About

Susie Webb Ries  is an artist and botanical illustrator from Nashville, Tennessee. She grew up in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Susie has traveled far and wide to attend watercolor workshops with masters in the field, exhibited her work at regional art shows, and led adult gardening and watercolor workshops. Inspired by Shirley Sherwood's collection of contemporary botanical art, in 2012 she enrolled in the Society of Botanical Artists™ 27-month Distance Learning Course in Botanical Art. In 2014 she received a diploma with credit from the SBA course in London.

Susie's lifelong appreciation for the beauty of nature has deepened through the careful observation of plant detail and the meditative practices of drawing and painting that inform botanical illustration.

She is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists.
